Dover International Speedway - The Monster Mile
Dover, Deleware

On Sunday, September 25th, we (Trent and I) took Cassie and Matt to their first NASCAR race. We went on a bus, because last time we went to Dover, it took us almost 6 hours to get home. It only took 2 1/2 hours to get down there!! We all slept on the bus down, considering we all got up at 3:30-4 am to get to the fire station on time to make the bus. Stopped and ate, it was a pretty good breakfast if I do say so.

The race was pretty good, although our favorite, (everyone but Cassie that is) driver, Tony Stewart, ended up a lap down, and lost the points lead. Cassie is a fan of Junior, who isn't so bad, but not as good as Tony. Junior got about 8 laps down due to brake problems early on and got them all back but one. That was a good car. Too bad it's so late in the season for it to really count.

The highlight, however, didn't tak place on the track. Although seeing Gordon going into the wall was rather entertaining, Matt gave everyone around us a good laugh. He FELL ASLEEP!!! In the middle of the race, as loud as it was, everything. We all had a good chuckle over that.

In the end, Jimmy Johnson won. Not a BIG deal, it wasn't Stewart, who we were really pulling for, but it could have been worse, like Busch or something. I would have liked to see Martin or Wallace win one for their last trip to Dover, but that's ok.

We did have a hard time trying to find the bus at the end. The certaintly do not have a good bus parking system there. They should work on that one. Maybe I will email the track.....

In the end, we all had a good time. Matt said he just had problems keeping his eyes open. He wasn't really sleeping, or so he says. LOL, it's all fun :)

Trent and I are going to Martinsville in October with his mom and step-father. It's like an addiction...once you go to one, you wanna go to more and more and more! Cheering for Tony, of course!
